I emigrate? Never! | Chicken soup
The last few days of miserable weather made me think of the three years we lived in England in the early 80s. Just someone that awful weather experienced it can understand what you're talking if you complain about the English weather. All my held that time is going on, knowing that I will one day house will go to a country where the sun always shines. I stood many a morning in the kitchen and wonder why I do not like brandy and Coke, because the only way I can face the day in a haze of drunkenness. Fortunately I do not drink, do I have a total alcoholic returned to South Africa.
I will never emigrate to another country - not because I am patriotic, but because I have a very good idea of how it works in other countries. My friend and her husband waited ceragem two years for their green cards to emigrate to America. They were eventually bag and pack away to Miami, and six months later they are back home! They have not suffered - he as a minister, working at a reformed church in Tampa Bay and they lived in a nice house, next to the church. She unexpectedly became pregnant and she just decided she was not prepared ceragem to get a baby in America. And (in her words) she and her husband had just had enough of the sloppy, dirty Americans with their sweet bread.
My sister and her family 3 years ago emigrated to Australia. She is my youngest sister and it was especially for my mother very much, but they all understand why they had to go. There are quite a few times, broke into their home and every time they improve security. Despite this they were the victims of an armed robbery - seven thirty on a Friday night! Then there was no stopping them, and the ball was set rolling to emigrate. All their paperwork was in order, they worked in Australia and they looked for a safe, stress-free stay in a beautiful new country. The house was packed and there's terrible to say goodbye to them. Twenty days later they were back! At that stage, the holder of all their furniture in Hong Kong - that had to be downloaded and terugverskeep is Durban. This escapade them as R600 000 and a loss of revenue cost for 4 months. I am not going into all the reasons why they come back come - they had very good reasons. She said that they had talked to several former SAers in Australia and everyone said they would return immediately if they could, but most of it can simply not afford.
Politics aside, I feel that we are in a wonderful country stay, with wonderful weather, fantastic fresh produce throughout the year, and the most important: reasonably cheap assistance in the home (read: char). I hate homework with a passion, and if I ever forced to emigrate have my maid go, otherwise I only live here. At university I went to class Prof. Elize Botha, and she told us how lucky we are women in South Africa is that we easily maid can afford. She told us that many of the women who worked with her in Amsterdam further studied only their studies had to abandon because they just could not handle together with children and a household.
